Breast Implants and Mammograms

This is encouraged for women whose breast implants are placed subglandularly as the mammogram may not detect all areas it should.

The one fear of your breast implant rupturing may lead to delaying, or even avoiding, your mammogram. You need to weigh the risks when it comes to this aspect of your life. Your breast implant will have to be replaced around 15 years after you have it placed by your plastic surgeon. Avoiding mammograms at this time is not in your best interest.
